Doodled layout and my first freebie…

September 30, 2010
answer

Update: This layout got published in the Jan 2011 issue of Ginger Scrapstreet. Here is a link to that. Today at Scrapbook Challenges I took the Doodle only challenge to make a layout with no scrapbook supplies, but with only cardstock, pen and markers. What a great challenge!! I accomodated my layout to suit their weekly sketch, Sketch 218 as well. Double Duty!! Here is my layout title “answer”,

This is a 8.5 by 11 inch, single page layout. It is a digital layout, but I totally stuck to the challenge. I actually drew the question marks for the background!!! It was an idea I had in my head, and since I was busy the whole of last week, the idea kept brewing in the back of head. I wanted to doodle my own background paper. It turned out to be a good idea. I doodled the border using pen and paper and scanned them onto my layout. I somehow found it a bit tedious to doodle using my graphic pen last night. I think I need to make a little more room on my computer table for my hand to be in a comfortable position. The journaling, words and the title were all written on paper and then scanned. I could have just doodled the entire layout onto a cardstock and made a paper layout, but I wanted to try making a background paper using Photoshop. It was a great learning experience. For this layout I used Adobe Photoshop CS5. And now, for all of you out there, I have a freebie download!! Am super excited about it, and so happy to share my question mark doodled background with all of you. It is a 12 by 12 inch, 300 dpi image in jpg format. And its a pretty small sized file, a super quick download!!

Download Now

Previously, I always used to work with  Adobe Photoshop CS3 on my laptop. But my laptop is seriously injured and may it RIP. It was my best friend, and I feel completely lost with it :(  So anyway, I had to use our desktop, and it has the newer photoshop, CS5, and it rocks!!! The new version is awesome and is sleeker has so many more options. Need to get all my digital supplies transferred onto the desktop now…

Keep a look out at my blog, I think I might be having a few more downloads coming soon…

Perfect in pink…

I love love love the photographs of my baby in this layout!! I deliberately try to not dress her in too much of pink, but somedays its impossible! Half of her cupboard is only pink clothes. In this layout, I highlighted the pink to make a completely ‘pink’ layout…

This is a 12 by 24 inch, two page digital layout made using Adobe Photoshop CS4. I used a Shabby Princess kit here. Love the rounded edges!

Haveli…

Today I am going to go back in time ( to a few months ago, not to far… ), and share with you a painting of mine. I love colors, and enjoy exploring every medium there is in art. But painting is what made me discover the artist in me :)

That said, all of my life I have been painting, but never really shared it with the world. This painting of mine, “Haveli-a window into the courtyard” was the first painting of mine to be exhibited in a gallery!

This painting was selected to be a part of the Burnsville Performing Art Centers International festival  “Cultural Perspectives: My Home, Your Home,Our Home!”. This was on display in their gallery from June 17 to July 31st 2010.

It is an acrylic painting on wood, measuring 12″ by 24″. This is a representation of a courtyard in a mansion or a palace with people wearing the tradional Rajasthani attire– Women wearing a dupatta (scarf) over their head and men wearing Turbans (a headgear). I absolutely love the shapes and intricacy of the jewelry and door in this painting. While molding these shapes I am instantly reminded of home, and drawn back to its comforting memories and the lingering aroma of spices. Every sari in India has these vibrant colors, and they are rich in details and designs — which is what I have tried to portray in this painting.

The International festival was an awesome experience! There was music, food and activities from so many cultures and the event was colorful and vibrant, full of music. And I took hundreds of photographs of the event and of me and my painting!

Back to school…

September 22, 2010
back2school

This scrapbooking season, since I don’t have anybody going to school, I kinda felt left out in all the “Back to school” creativity.

For today’s One hour challenge at Club CK, we had to make a back to school themed layout using school supplies. I was initially gonna sit this one and just see what everybody else created, but then inpiration struck , and I decided to make a card!!

Here is what I made!

I am new at creating cards, have been trying my hand at them this past couple of weeks. Am slowly learning about card making.  And am enjoying myself!

This is a 5.25  by 5.25 inch digital card, created using Adobe Photoshop CS3. The notebook paper and pen are by Ronna Penner. The fonts used are CK Neat Freak. The smiley face is a font by kevinandamande.com called Pea Jack and Jane.

Here is a link to my CK club gallery, where you can see what comments people left about this card.

Here is what Ana says about her pick:

I love the colors and the softness of it. It is just an all around sweet page, that reflects the sweetness of the photos
.

I am so humbled that they selected me, and this is such a precious  dear layout! I have got to get it printed soon! I always love seeing my digital layouts all printed, they look so great and all the details pop out, especially the embellishments! Am always kinda unsure about the layout until I see a full res print of it.

I do all my scrapbook printing at Costco. Where do you guys get your layouts printed?

I also wanted to share with you a giveaway over at red oak lines. Sarah has a really awesome Imaginisce giveaway featuring the ‘Birthday Bash’ line!! Don’t miss it!

  • Welcome to my blog! Here I share everything that is color, crafty and creative in my life. A happy mixture of scrapbooking, photography, photoshopping, sewing, painting and two little girls.
