Update: This layout got published in the January 2011 issue of Scrapstreet.com. Here is a link for it.

Todays layout is so so so  much fun!!! My favorite hangout Scrapbook Challenges is turning one, and they are having a blog hop which starts here !

Here is the layout I created…

This layout was based on this blog hop sketch,

I rotated the sketch, see the resemblance now?

This is a 12 by 12 inch digital layout, and I used Adobe Photoshop CS4. This beautiful template is by Creativity by Crystal. All the papers and embellishments and words are from Cosmo Cricket’s Girl Friday Collection. All of these products are available exclusively at  jessicasprague.com.

I was initially going to make a paper layout for this sketch, but the papers did not inspire me today. So I tried a digital layout, and I love the colors here :)

Now to continue this birthday bash celebration go and see what the other members of Scrapbook Challenges have created here at their Blog Hop On!

Our new born Baby…

October 29, 2010

Over the past year, I have printed so many photographs to scrapbook, that it now fills an entire box. Last nite, I dug deep into that box and found these precious photographs of our baby, on the day she was born. So I created this layout,  for the sketch at Lets capture these sketches

She was so tiny and fragile when she was born. Awwwww.….. I kind of forget that when she is hurling peas at me now :)

The challenge for this week was to use three B’s in your layout. I used Baby, Butterfly, Brackets.

The colors here are perfect for the spring color challenge at the Play date Cafe! Baby pink, blue with a hint of red…

For this layout, I used cardstock from Bazzill Basics. The Patterned papers are from My Minds eye. The pink scalloped ribbon and the pearls are from Scrapabilities. The stickers and teddy bear are from Creating Keepsakes.

The title ‘Baby’ and the butterflies were die cuts that I bought at a garage sale this summer. I used my sewing machine to stitch along the letters, which turned out to be a little more complex than I thought it would be. Well not complex, it just needed extra patience and love :)

I also used paper edgers from Color bok and Provo Craft to trim my papers. I cut my blue paper ( another B!) and then misted it with homemade red color mist. I then crumpled and rolled the wet paper. After a while I smoothed it out and let it dry to give it a fabric kind of look. I learnt this technique at CK Club. They teach you to just spritz the paper with water, but I used a red mist instead. This brought an uneven pink tone to my blue patterned paper which suits the mood of the layout.

I then stitched the faux paper border together. My sewing machine must be laughing at the irony– sewing faux fabric :)

The butterflies, have to be my favorite element here. I layered two different colored die cut butterflies, and then added the pink scalloped ribbon and finally the pearls on top.

Adhered a couple of stickers, the matted photographs and the brackets. All done!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!!! :)
