Making your own Mod Podge Coasters could not be easier! Today I’ll show you how you can easily add stamping and photos to personalize your coasters!
The beginning of fall has to be the most amazing time. You leave behind summer and the crazy warp speed of life. You relax more, craft more, and watch more TV. So for this month’s mixed media idea, I decided to make some DIY coasters, perfect to place that relaxing drink onto.
What should I use as the coaster base?
Die cut some thick chipboard using the FUSE Creativity System and the Medium Design square set. I actually cut all six of the squares all at once, the FUSE is capable of doing that easily
Add rubber cement and sandwich two chipboard squares together. Any adhesive would work here, but I chose rubber cement because it dries super quick.
You can alternately buy pre cut chipboard coasters like these.
How to decorate your Mod Podge coasters:
You can add inks: Easily add some inks and blend the colors on the coaster itself using a blending tool. I went with some typical fall hues- ochres and browns.
You can use stamps: Add a stamp background text by mounting the stamp onto a stamp press or stamp any image of your choice to color in. I got my fingers inky for this one.
You can add photos: Easily add photos onto your coasters! I printed some fall photos to use but you could cut out images from magazines to use here too. Layer punched paper images on top if you want too.

You can also add burlap, cardboard buttons etc: I added an image, some burlap, a chipboard button and twine to each coaster. I also added some punched leaves using the Intricate Shaped punches.
How to finish off these mod podge coasters:
The final step is to add multiple coats of mod podge onto the top surface of these coasters. This will act as a sealant and make these coasters waterproof.
Use a disposable sponge brush here to make it easy to paint and throw.
TIP: It pays to be patient here and add multiple thin coats rather than one thick coat of mod podge.
These Mod Podge Coasters would look great with a photograph of your child or grand child!
