Now resuming my regular blogging***

You all know that I finally caved in and  bought my first ever Studio Calico kit last month right? It was their Storyhour kit and it was SO much fun to work with. I am actually considering subbing from this month onwards, it is just been so amazing hanging out at SC!

What does this have to do with the image above? Well, I am glad you asked! Getting my SC kit in the mail was so exciting, it made me go back and start scrapbooking more. Even before the kit arrived home, I had photos printed and layouts sketched out– and before I knew I had four layouts all done and ready.

I shared three of them earlier this month in this post here, but the last one, my husband darling wanted to showcase a little bit more. As in, he wanted to try his hand at making an iBook (he loves new and technical), and asked me very sweetly if I wanted to write one for him.

I was like yeah, I will add that to my crazy-no time to sit down and breathe till 10pm at night, 7 days a week– busy life with the never ending to-do list.

(I actually have two TO DO lists nowadays, one a general one, and one that I write every morning– the absolutely MUST do even if I lose sleep today list! Ironically, this blog post was not on today’ list. No it was not. I was supposed to finish prepping my receipts so that we could finish filing our taxes soon. Guess which was more appealing?)

That said, I was working on this layout a couple of weeks ago, and had all these thoughts popping up in my head, and I suddenly realized that, that right there was that book that I could write. That he wanted me to write. I could literally hear myself typing it up. Who said a book had to be all words? I am only reading picture books to our girls right now and that was my first thought– A picture book. Or to be more professional, a photo book.

So this is my very first venture at a book.

I might write more, I might not. You never know.

But this one right here — it will be my first book– and will be mine forever.

PS: If you actually read through this entire post, you will realize that I said iBook but this is a pdf. Well, it took us two weekend to get this book done and finally published, and we are still waiting for it to appear in the iTunes store. Evidently, after some research, we have found that once published, an iBook can take anywhere between 24 hours to 3 months to appear in the store. Yup, I said three months. And I am not a patient person. After refreshing my account, atleast 10 times a day for the past week, I have finally decided, that I want to share this with everyone– not have it sit on my computer. Also, I might have been driving myself stir crazy refreshing my browser all day long.

When eventually the iBook appears on the itunes store, I will update it here and let all of you know!

ETA: The text paragraph for idea #8 was incorrect, (Thank you Kelly for letting me know!) and I have changed that. You can now download the edited pdf by clicking the same link above. It will download a file 10FRESHscrapbookingideas_SmithaKatti_ver2.pdf. Thanks!

ETA: March 30th: The book has hit the iBookstore!

This weeks Friday Freebie is going to come on Saturday. Hopefully.

For the photo friday challenge {play} @Thesimplethings blog,

When I read this weeks prompt :play:, this layout/photo came to mind. And stayed in my mind for the whole evening, so I dug it out and decided to blog about it. This isnt a new layout, its one I made last summer but this is what “play” is for my little girl. The swings.

Incidently, this layout appeared in this previous issue of Scrapbooks etc, and I totally forgot to share it on my blog :)

While on the topic of Scrapbooks etc, they have two of my cards up on their blog here and here!

Twelve photos from one day. I knew Monday was super busy here, so I documented my photos on Sunday itself. The weekends are more fun anyhow. I love love loved the film look that Carly gave all her photos (see them here on her blog The simple things), aren’t they amazing?

How to add film grain — that’s  going to be my fun learning project for this weekend! But for today’s 12 photos, I wanted to try something quick — so I made them look like posters… which lead to a 5 phone call, 30 minute discussion about digital posterizing with the husband, coz I liked these photos, but he wasn’t a big fan :D

The morning starts with me baking chocolate chip cookies– using wheat flour and oats. yumm and healthier too…

learning to type/spell her name…

the great weather took us outdoors,

walk around the lake, first beautiful day of spring, the whole town was out for a walk…

baby stayed cozy and happy in her stroller…

a loooooong pitstop at the park, swing swing swing, wheeeeeeeeee!

back home, some quiet time with crayons…

sneak behind mom to play with her cell phone…

cooking dinner…brussel sprouts with peppers…

little fingers eating cheerio…

bedtime story with dada…

(my photos for the 10 on 10{march} at thesimplethings blog and 12 on 12 at dear lizzy’s blog and the take twelve at ella’s publishing, Whew!)

Busy day out here, with me picking things off the floor and cleaning tables and trying to make the house look less lived in. How has your day been?

For the photo friday challenge {everyday} @Thesimplethings blog,

This is pretty much the “everyday” scenario here. Nidhi loves her crayons, and they will be all over the living room, with Shreya crawling around trying to get her hand on one of them…

The remotes are an everyday staple, we watch Dora daily and love her, and the blu ray dvd player that my husband bought so lovingly, is now the “Thomas the tank” player ” :)

Am off to work on some more layouts now, the new Storyhour kit is so much fun!!
