{guest blogging at CK…}

May 8, 2012
teaser2_web

I am popping in early today, as opposed to my usual midnite blogging, because…

today I am guest blogging at the Creating Keepsakes blog!

I talk about using your paper scraps and punches on  your scrapbooking layouts :)

And you might want to head over there and leave a comment, because Fiskars is very generously giving away three of their brand new XXXL Lever Punches to one winner.

And if you are stopping by here from the CKblog and are new to my blog, a BIG HELLO to you :)

I have another layout to share today, using those XXXL punches, the bird one is my favorite (and evidently my daughters favorite too!)

I punched a whole lot of the birds and adhered them on the XXXL sqaures. This layout was another quick layout, becuase I used a coordinated kit of papers, here SC’s boardwalk kit.

Thanks for stopping by today!

I have made 3 layouts so far, at this the perfect kit to evoke a paris feeling :)

First layout, titled “two months old” that has some hidden journaling,

Second layout, its a masculine one titled “he is an inventor” that has a stamped title (I actually used the JBS stencil as a stencil here :) and a whole lot of machine stitching in the background,

The third layout, titled “little baby” uses octogons and a circle– for Vee’s Go graphic challenge,

Its National Scrapbooking day/weekend! How are you all spending it? I am mostly gonna hang out at Studio Calico and ClubCK forums; and tweet!

{a week of spring: day five: ready…}

April 21, 2012

Okay, am back today with more spring! A quilt inspired layout with a lot of layers,

I used fabric scraps left over from the actual quilt I made for the baby. Lots of frills and lace. Lots of soft spring colors.

Doesn’t it seem that there are pregnant women everywhere come spring? Everything feels brand new and fresh and full of possibilities :) Enjoy!

{a week of spring: day two: spring blooms…}

Hi everyone! It’s day two of spring projects, and here is a scrapbooking layout titled “spring blooms”

This one is a double page layout, and the photos here were taken last year, when I was pregnant (which seems like a long lost distant memory today!) My favorite photo here has to be the photo of the cherry blossoms! And a near second would be the photo of my belly peeking from behind the tree :)

I used felt and punched flowers here,

This layout actually appeared in a special issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine called Scrapbooking ideas for every season which came out a while ago…

Thanks for stopping by today! Will see you all tomorrow with some more spring :)

Now resuming my regular blogging***

You all know that I finally caved in and  bought my first ever Studio Calico kit last month right? It was their Storyhour kit and it was SO much fun to work with. I am actually considering subbing from this month onwards, it is just been so amazing hanging out at SC!

What does this have to do with the image above? Well, I am glad you asked! Getting my SC kit in the mail was so exciting, it made me go back and start scrapbooking more. Even before the kit arrived home, I had photos printed and layouts sketched out– and before I knew I had four layouts all done and ready.

I shared three of them earlier this month in this post here, but the last one, my husband darling wanted to showcase a little bit more. As in, he wanted to try his hand at making an iBook (he loves new and technical), and asked me very sweetly if I wanted to write one for him.

I was like yeah, I will add that to my crazy-no time to sit down and breathe till 10pm at night, 7 days a week– busy life with the never ending to-do list.

(I actually have two TO DO lists nowadays, one a general one, and one that I write every morning– the absolutely MUST do even if I lose sleep today list! Ironically, this blog post was not on today’ list. No it was not. I was supposed to finish prepping my receipts so that we could finish filing our taxes soon. Guess which was more appealing?)

That said, I was working on this layout a couple of weeks ago, and had all these thoughts popping up in my head, and I suddenly realized that, that right there was that book that I could write. That he wanted me to write. I could literally hear myself typing it up. Who said a book had to be all words? I am only reading picture books to our girls right now and that was my first thought– A picture book. Or to be more professional, a photo book.

So this is my very first venture at a book.

I might write more, I might not. You never know.

But this one right here — it will be my first book– and will be mine forever.

PS: If you actually read through this entire post, you will realize that I said iBook but this is a pdf. Well, it took us two weekend to get this book done and finally published, and we are still waiting for it to appear in the iTunes store. Evidently, after some research, we have found that once published, an iBook can take anywhere between 24 hours to 3 months to appear in the store. Yup, I said three months. And I am not a patient person. After refreshing my account, atleast 10 times a day for the past week, I have finally decided, that I want to share this with everyone– not have it sit on my computer. Also, I might have been driving myself stir crazy refreshing my browser all day long.

When eventually the iBook appears on the itunes store, I will update it here and let all of you know!

ETA: The text paragraph for idea #8 was incorrect, (Thank you Kelly for letting me know!) and I have changed that. You can now download the edited pdf by clicking the same link above. It will download a file 10FRESHscrapbookingideas_SmithaKatti_ver2.pdf. Thanks!

ETA: March 30th: The book has hit the iBookstore!
