Hello hello my crafty friends. Am back today with a quick masculine dad card to share…

This one, was a last minute card (really, all of my card submissions are last minute!) that I squeezed in and I was SO excited when I got the happy email from Miss Opel for it :)

It appears in this new issue of Paper Crafts Magazine,

I got this issue in the mail a couple of days ago, and man is it packed with a TON of amazing projects. Loved reading it! (Psst: You really should like The Paper Crafts Magazine’s facebook page! They are so much fun!!!)

As amazing as it was to get my card in the magazine, I have to say that I got a super super sweet email yesterday from my new friend Patti, that was even more amazing! She emailed me with a link to her blog, and said that she had seen this card in the magazine and was inspired to create one of her own. How kind of her to take time to actually email me :)

Thanks Patti, I love your card!  And I know you all are inquisitive, so click here to go her blog and see what she made!

PS: I have a super fun post planned for tomorrow!!! (tomorrow happens to be just 10 minutes away, so stick around and see what its all about!)

PPS: Things have been completely out of whack for the past couple of days, with my mother in law being really ill and hospitalized. Things are better now, and we are getting back into a routine slowly. I missed my blog in those few days, and this also made me realize how therapeutic typing a blog post actually is. Here is to blogging more!

{project life 2012: march}

Hello Everyone! Hello fellow Project lifers!

Am back today, with my double page spread for the month of March.

As many of you know, this year I am doing Project life digitally. And monthly instead of weekly (you can read more about that in my first PLpost here)

I was way ahead of schedule earlier– both for january and february, but march was busy. I am still on track though but I can feel that creepy feeling that I will be lagging soon… But thats ok,  coz it felt SO good do make this layout!

(click on image to see enlarged version)

This layout came together really quickly: In less than an hour. For two simple reasons: One, I knew that I wanted to blow up that picture on the right side of the page. Second, I decided to use the rest of the space to form a 3 by 4 inch grid. After that, things fell into place quick.

I also love the white space that the “quote cards” provide here. I was a little bummed that I had’nt got to play with my recent weekly freebies, and I guess I used a lot of them on this one :)

Supplies for this layout: I used a couple of Quote cards from my “spring series” also a 3 from the “watercolor” series. I also used some of the “a little bird told me”  journaling cards by Splendid Fiins (which will be available at www.jessicasprague.com soon)

For this page, I used ‘the everyday amazing’ card from the “everyday series” and one large photo– 8 by 12 inches. That photo my husband took is so totally awesome, worth every penny he paid for his new camera ;)

I am also joining in on the Project life Tuesday at The Mom Creative! I love the energy they have here and I also love that it gives me a deadline. Since  my Project life is going to be monthly, I will be posting on the second Tuesday each month…

Squeezing in three cards for the challenges @MoxieFabWorld. Really really last minute here :)

The first one is for the DIY Embellishments Challenge : My handmade embellie here is the flower, that I painted roughly using my daughter’ watercolor paint and then outlined with a black pen. Bright and cheery! The second one is for the Paper Scraps Challenge : And here I used some leftover scraps, to make a mini card. The card is really tiny, about 2 by 3 inches and don’t we all have leftover card stock? Of late, everytime I have a little or lot of card stock leftover, I make cards out of them, and now have a tiny drawer full of  base cards– ready for me to decorate and embellish.

I also used the leftover negative from a punched scallop. I trimmed around it, to form a rectangle and then used a corner punch on it. The third one is for the Don’t Throw it Away Challenge and for that I used some leftover alpha stickers. I always run out of vowels, and this is a fun way to reuse them. Just cut around the negative and stick it on patterned paper or card stock. I love doing this, and have used this technique on a scrapbook layout of mine here too :)

Also entering this card for the Paper Scraps Challenge . I pulled out all scrap papers for this one, and trimmed them into one inch squares. As a mom of two little girls, it figures I would  have a ton of pink patterned paper.. Am gonna be back in an hour with my Project life post! Stick around :)

Yup, this post is gonna be full of links, places that I love and thought I would share with you all!

First, the new Spring issue of Scrapstreet is out. I have an “Inspiration Way” article in there, titled “Quote me” (which might feature some of my dear blog readers works… {smile})

This also means that there is a new call for submissions. For our next issue I am looking for…

Chevron Chic. Draw your inspiration from the image below and let your creativity flow! Think out of the box and make a layout of any size, card, or altered item. Please include a line in your submission telling us how this image inspired you.

Deadline is midnight May 19th for all calls.

Please send your work to smikatti@gmail.com

Please send a separate email for each submission you would like to be considered for publication. Please keep the image size around 600 x 600 pixels. Thank you!

There are a whole lot of other calls too, which you can find here. Good luck!

Second, I wanted to share the Creative team call open at Jessica Sprague’s website. If you are digital scrapbooker, this is an amazing, truly amazing place to be at. More details here.

Third, I cannot believe I have never mentioned these amazing women on blog yet. My fellow Craft Experts from the Fiskars team. All of them create such beautiful projects, I am sure you will be inspired! (I still kinda can’t believe I am on their team!)

And lastly, but most importantly, here is a the hashtag that my friend Nirupama and I came up with.

What could be more fun than scrapbooking? Why, scrapbooking with friends!!

Last night, was our first online scrapbooking tweet crop, I didnt scrap much, coz the baby didnt sleep till really really really late (atleast her ear infection has healed!) but it was SO much fun to hang out with other people, seeing what they were scrapping and chatting!!

Thank you @LiveTeachCreate  @soaphousemama  @johannahb_08  @2littlezsandme  @nirupama01  @SmithaKatti for coming to our crop! I am sure we will be planning another one soon– as soon as we find some time :)
