Modified Waffle Knit Stitch 2 Yarn Colors!

I just fiddled around with my yarn today and have a Modified Waffle Knit Stitch pattern to share with you today that looks beautiful with 2 contrasting yarn colors. I love the design and texture it creates! It’s a simple pattern to memorize and easy to knit on the go. Find the pattern below.

I share many Knitting and Crochet ideas here on my blog, but it’s these Small Yarn Projects that I find super useful all the time! You probably already have yarn for this at your home!

Modified Waffle Knit Stitch Pattern:

While this looks like a Waffle Knit Stitch, I modified it to add the color work. Also, I tweaked it to have stockinette stitch facing up on the right side.

Pattern makes one block measuring a 10 inch square. Gauge: 5 sts = 1 inch.

wyib= with yarn in back; wyif= with yarn in front

Cast on 50 stitches onto a size 7 knitting needles, with Color A

Rows 1: With Color B, K2, * s1, wyib, k3* repeat till last 2 stitches, K2

Row 2: With Color B, P2, *s1, wyif, p3* repeat till last 2 stitches, P2

Row 3: Repeat Row 1; Row 4: Repeat Row 2

Rows 5 & 6: With Color A, Knit all stitches

Repeat rows 1 to 6, 10 more times Repeat pattern once more binding off on the Row 5.

I made three squares- and I used pink as my Color A for all three squares. I varied my Color B and used a yellow, purple and green color. Mixing colors makes me super happy 🙂

This is an easy stitch and would would make a great blanket if joined together too.

Yarn and needles used:

Yarn: I used a 100% Cotton 3 Ply DK Weight yarn here in 4 colors.

Needles: Size 7 Straight Needles

Crochet hook: Size E 3.5mm

You will also need felt or fleece for the lining, a zipper and a needle and thread.

CONCLUSION:

The Modified Waffle Knit Stitch creates a beautiful textured pattern that is color contrasting. The pattern is actually easier that you would think and I hope you will give it a try!

I turned my blocks into a really cute Tablet Cover (my iPad fits easily in this) or a make up pouch.
