Hi, I’m Smitha Katti! I’m an Artist, a Mom, a Creative Professional, a Blogger and a Photographer. Not necessarily in that order 😉

Being creative is who I am. It’s my joy. It’s my life. I am happy when I am making things. But a secret part of me will always embrace the Engineer I am and math will always be my best friend.

I love creating colorful things and am always making something new. I find inspiration all around me and am constantly doodling and jotting down thoughts onto whatever scrap paper is available at hand. I have a long list of ideas in my head… More ideas than time! I am a typical Gemini and can balance multiple projects at once, in fact I thrive on that.

You will find me making a variety crafts- I knit, I paint, I sew and  I make DIY Videos. I love positive words and quotes and you can find me handlettering on instagram.

Besides this blog, I also am the voice behind The Shiny Nest, the storefront for all of my handdrawn and handlettered products.

I am the eye behind two instagram handles @theshinynest and @smilingcolorsblog

I currently live in Minneapolis, Minnesota with my husband and two daughters.

I have also been published in numerous magazines like Somerset Memories, Creating Keepsakes, Cards etc. I have been on the design teams of Glitz, Jessica Sprague, Design Memory Crafts, Tombow USA etc.

Since the year 2011 I have been a content creator for various companies like Fiskars, Tombow, Tonic Studios, Glue Dots and Faber Castell. Click here to see all of my projects.

I design for Tombow USA, Tonic Studios and Fiskars America and receive products and compensation for projects. All the posts I write are about projects/crafts that I have made myself. All the products I list in my blog posts are products that I have actually used. I do use affiliate links for shops and products that I love and frequent. When you purchase an item using my affiliate link, you do not pay more for the item, but I do get a little kick back that accumulates and helps me run this blog.

  3. Hi Smitha, I too am on the JS creative team..
I follow your work – it is great! I have some questions about how you set up your blog. Love that too! Is it a blogger blog or wordpress? I VERY much want to have sections in my blog – to categorize my project Life, my photo of the day and my scrapping layouts. Can you help me with this? I am so inspired by your blog! It is beautiful! Thanks in advance.
