Sharing tons of Digital Scrapbooking Ideas to inspire you to document those memories! These Digital Scrapbooking Ideas are all layouts I’ve enjoyed creating myself and I hope you feel inspired by them!

What is the best software for digital scrapbooking?

This is the question I get asked most! I started out my Digital Scrapbooking with Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite and cannot recommend it enough. There is a learning curve, but anything you want to learn about the software is easily googleable.

Where to get Digital supplies?

There are many FREE digital supplies available if you take time to search the internet. For the layout below, my first every Digi layout, I used this FREE Digi Kit only. I also personally love the style of Miss Tiina and Lilypad. Also check out my 21+ FREE Scrapbook Printables to use Right Now

25 Digital Scrapbooking Ideas:

Many of my Digital Scrapbooking ideas that you see below have been published in magazines like Scrapbooks etc, Creating Keepsakes magazine, and Create

I hope you enjoyed these digital scrapbooking ideas. I make all of the layouts to measure 12 by 12 inches at 300dpi using Adobe Photoshop CS3

I was looking for a different point of focus of the baby, and composed each photograph to emote the feeling ‘precious’. I used 5 photographs, each 3 x 2 inches, that were cropped from 4 x 6 inched photographs. I love the colors and feel of the layout. All the patterned papers I used here are by Katie Pertiet.

For this pumpkin-themed page, the only trick I used was to create a shadow with the photo by duplicating the photo layer and masking part of it with a drop shadow.

The below layout was for the Typography/Word art challenge. I loved this photo of the girls reading together, but it was completely out of focus. So I used it as the background instead and made the type bold and center focus. I also added smaller photos that were in focus on the bottom as a border

Giggle giggle. This is a 12 by 12-inch digital layout, and I used Adobe Photoshop CS4. I used a beautiful template is by Creativity by Crystal. All the papers and embellishments and words are from Cosmo Cricket’s Girl Friday Collection.

I can work while the baby plays beside me or if need be, shut my laptop right in the middle of the project safely and come back to it later 🙂

The story behind this layout- I am not a seamstress but I wanted to sew this princess dress for my daughter. The dress wasn’t perfect and all I could see were the imperfections. But my daughter loved the dress and her smile was SO wide when she wore it. So, I stopped seeing the imperfections and saw just how happy I had made her. Truly, this whole world looks brand new when viewed together with a child.

Journaling Challenge: This photo was so beautiful, it begged to be enlarged. That left no space for me to add the journaling. So, I created a zig-zag and fit my words into that area.

Digital Scrapbooking Ideas

We had sunflowers growing in our backyard last year. It was a surprise to us because we planted the seeds and then conveniently forgot about it. I cropped two 4 by 6-inch photographs and placed them side by side to create a single 4 by 6-inch photograph in this layout. I love the end result!! I used a lot of stitching here to get the effect I wanted.  And I love all the circles!! More Digital Scrapbooking ideas- use photos from your garden.

As part of Lori Whitlock’s Design team I created this fun layout using a template.

Something I love about Digital Scrapbooking is the flexibility and ease of trying out new colors. I chose a different color scheme, one that I would not have normally used and loved it!

Templates make my memory keeping process that much quicker. Here I added a few transparent alphas for the title and love the little staples!

I love the way the photos are cropped to be long and narrow here.

Such a pink layout with just a pop of color with the photo

I love it when I actually get time to do layouts about everyday simple stuff.

Documenting our weekend getaway. I tried to reflect the relaxation in this layout- clean lines and lots of white space

A quirky crop to the photo adds to the playfulness of this layout.

Summer vibes with all the bright yellow here! Papers are all Echo Park

This is a digital layout, that measures 12 by 12 inches. I had this adorable picture of N playing on the computer at the library that I wanted to use. She loves to play the ABC game. And all she does day long is sing her ABCs to baby S! And I wanted to document that before I forgot about it

This is really a fast/quick digital scrapbooking page. I placed the photos and journaling to form a triangle of sorts and kept the title and embellishments pretty simple in this layout. That kinda lets the photos pop against the green background (love the crumpled paper here!)

Of all the digital scrapbooking ideas I’ve shared, this is the easiest- create a grid of 4 blocks. Add 3 pretty papers and one photo.

Another easy idea, add 4 photos, keep three of them in black and white, and just now with color!

This layout is all about the baby meeting her grandparents. They did not get to see her till she was 5 months old, and that was tough for them.

As a photographer in the family, I rarely have good photos of me. These photos were taken on my computer’s video camera and it was fun posing for them 🙂

Keep the color scheme pretty basic, almost all greys and blacks with a pop of color! This layout was all about the huge snowstorm we got in Dec 2010.

Look for fun ways to crop your photos!

Will I stop using paper and glue?

I have been an avid shopper ( read- shopaholic! ) over the past couple of years and have collected tons of papers, stickers, and embellishments for my traditional layouts/albums. It takes me forever to go through all my papers and select the ones I like for a  layout I am working on. And for me, traditional paper layouts will always remain my first love. I love that they have layers, texture, and depth and that the embellishments stand out. But boy, do I create a huge mess while creating those layouts.

Nowadays, I keep challenging myself continually to try different techniques. If I see a sketch online, I go hmm…. how can I achieve the same effect digitally. And thus begins a new layout…

There are so many Digital Scrapbooking Ideas waiting for you to get started. I’m sure you will enjoy preserving those memories!

CONCLUSION

Digital Scrapbooking is even easier these days- just download the Project life app on your phone and get started!

Are you tired of cleaning up the paper mess after a crafternoon of scrapbooking? Going digital is your answer then! Create layouts quickly and easily at your computer with no clean-up required.

The software I used to use is Adobe Photoshop CS3 or CS5 and I created all of my layouts at a 300dpi resolution for high-quality printing. This ensures that my Shutterfly photobooks have sharp images that are a joy to flip through. I love how my kids enjoy flipping through my completed albums!
