I have shared many DIY book making ideas here on my blog, and I’ve shown you how to make a book with paper and glue, and how to staple a booklet with a regular stapler, this how to bind a book with string method remains a strong favorite. Today I am using that technique, but in a simpler version to show you how to make a handmade journal

Material Needed:

  • Paper for inside pages (printer paper or sketch paper)
  • Cardstock or decorative paper (for the cover)
  • A bookbinding Kit

  • Fold your pages to size. These are called signatures. You can use about 10 to 15 pages here.
  • Measure and trim the cover to size from sturdy card stock.
  • Mark and Punch holes, using a ruler and awl.
  • Thread the string through to bind the journal
Personalized DIY gifts

Since the binding on these handmade journals is simplistic, I added colorful flowers and gold embossed words to decorate them. That Gold embossing has some sparkle to it that is so cool!
