Hi! I’m Smitha Katti, more about me

smitha katti

Hello and welcome! I’m Smitha Katti. I’m glad you stopped by today!

I love creating things for the sheer happiness it brings. Being creative is who I am. It’s the way I think. I am at my happiest when I am making things. When my fingers are sticky with glue and my pants have paint stains on them.

The word “Smitha” means Smile in Sanskrit and my blog name is a take on that.

I enjoy sharing my art and craft projects as tutorials, videos, and free printables here on my blog.

I hope you leave my blog inspired to put your phone down and pull out your art supplies to create something.

I find myself constantly doodling and jotting down thoughts onto whatever scrap paper is available at hand. I have a long list of ideas in my head… More ideas than time! I am a typical Gemini and can balance multiple projects at once, in fact, I thrive on that.

You will find me making a variety of crafts- I knit, I paint, I sew and  I make DIY videos. I love positive words and quotes and you can find me hand lettering on Instagram.

A little bit about me. I’m Smitha Katti, a self-taught Artist, a Creative Professional, and a Blogger. I’ve also been an engineer and will always remain a lifelong math geek.
I live in Minnesota with my husband and two daughters, but I grew up in Bangalore.

I was born in Nashville, TN, and moved to India at the age of 8. I grew up and did my college and bachelor’s in Bengaluru before moving back to the USA and settling in Minnesota. In my heart, home is both Bengaluru and Minneapolis.

In our household we speak both Kannada and Marathi equally. We also watch Hindi, Telugu and Tamil movies 🙂

This blog came to life along with my firstborn in 2009. By the time my second daughter was born in 2011, I was blogging regularly and also creating content for the Fiskars website.

In the following years, my work got published in numerous magazines like Somerset Memories, Creating Keepsakes, Cards, etc.

I have also been part of the design teams of Jessica Sprague, Glitz, Glue Dots, Design Memory Crafts, Tombow USA, and Tonic Studios.

I follow your work – it is great! I have some questions about how you set up your blog. Love that too! Is it a blogger blog or wordpress? I VERY much want to have sections in my blog – to categorize my project Life, my photo of the day and my scrapping layouts. Can you help me with this? I am so inspired by your blog! It is beautiful! Thanks in advance.
