These free blanket knitting patterns need not feel daunting. Start by learning the basic stitches in my previous post How To Knit Beginners Step by Step Photos.

1. GARTER STITCH BLANKET

This is one of the easiest knitted blanket patterns to make! This Garter Stitch Blanket Pattern is the most easiest blanket ever. It uses just the knit stitch in rows and rows of garter. Thick, textured and beautiful, this afghan will make you happy for sure.

2. CORNER TO CORNER BLANKET PATTERN KNIT

One of my most popular blankets with you readers has been this How to Knit a corner to corner baby blanket with FREE pattern. I love the colorway I chose and also how quickly this knits up! Makes one perfect baby blanket.

3. KNIT RECTANGLE BLANKET:

A much requested follow up pattern, my corner to corner knit blanket rectangle makes a super cute baby blanket in a matter of days!

4. RAINBOW BLANKET WITH SLANT STITCH

My personal all time favorite blanket that I have ever knit is this Rainbow Knit Blanket Pattern. Mixing and matching all the yarn colors was my favorite part of this blanket. The pretty slant stitch adds a nice texture!

5. kNIT BLANKET PATTERN BULKY YARN

This super bulky knit blanket pattern is knit using HUGE size 50 needles. It is the most ginormous set of needles I own and the best blanket I have ever knit!

6. cHUNKY BLANKET PATTERN SIZE 50 NEEDLES

Learn how to make a chunky knit blanket with regular yarn that uses inexpensive yarn instead of roving. You could make this blanket in a single solid color and it would be beautiful too!

7. EASY STOCKINETTE STITCH KNIT THROW

This Easy Stockinette Stitch Knit Throw is colorful and simple to make and was my companion during our 18-hour road trip to Mount Rushmore. The pattern is the simplest ever and you don’t need to pay too much attention to the knitting. The yarn I used here is super soft and makes you want to rub the blanket on your face.

8. HEART KNIT BLANKET

Knitting a heart shape is a great challenge for any knitter- and though it takes some calculations you will love the end result! The pinks just make me happy 🙂

9. HALF LINEN TEXTURED BLANKET

This Half Linen Stitch blanket has the most amazing texture that is dense with no hole texture. This is slow comfort knit as the half lined stitch requires you to move the yarn from the back to the front of the work at every stitch.

I personally enjoy a large project that has a simple repetitive pattern. They are easy to memorize, and can’t be messed up easily.
