Stamping with Markers With 3 Colorful Examples

No ink pad, no worries! Stamping with markers is an fun way to create that no line coloring look effortlessly! You still get to enjoy the stamping, but with no inky fingers!

Today I’ll show you how to use your markers with stamps step by step in a few different ways to get beautiful results! Let’s make a thank you card and some DIY Bookmarks with this technique.

What can I use instead of ink for stamps?

In this tutorial, you will learn how to stamp an image without an ink pad! I am horrible at stamping images with black ink- I get the ink on my fingers and from there the ink smudges spread everywhere! Stamping with markers is much more forgiving and easier- so go ahead and pull out your favorite stamps and markers. All Watercolor Markers have water based ink and are great for this technique!

Can you use tombow markers on stamps?

Yes, I love using my Tombow Dual Brush Pens with my stamps.

Stamping with Markers tutorial:

Step 1: Using the brush tip, apply marker color directly onto the stamp. Color different areas with different colors. Once colored, you want to lightly spritz the stamp with some water.

Stamping without inkpad

Step 2: Place a trimmed watercolor paper directly onto the colored stamp and press down evenly and apply pressure all over the stamp. Lift the paper off the stamp carefully and. you will have a colorful imprint of the stamp on your paper.

TIP: For a quicker stamping- If you don’t have time to color different areas of the stamp with unique colors, try using a light grey colored marker and color the whole stamp instead of individual elements.

What is no line coloring? What is no line watercoloring?

No line coloring is a method in which the stamped image lines blend into the coloring and do not stand out or contrast. If you use a water to blend the colors, you create a no line watercoloring look.

I am not an inky stamper and I have said that before, I much prefer paints and I found a way to stamp these beautiful flowers without an ink pad. create a temporary sort of ink pad with the Watercolor Markers. I use water to add the color to the flowers and then restamp the images on top to give a more defined outline. I

Stamping with Markers Example 3

To create a messy Watercolor look is easy and forgiving. I stamp the flowers and leaves I mix colors from the Tombow Dual Brush Pens on the Blending palette directly and then use that as a temporary ink pad of sorts. You need only a little color scribble and that goes a long way. Since these pens are water-reactive, you can easily soften the edges of the stamped images with just a damp paintbrush.

I love how colorful this card turned out and what makes it special to me is that I didn’t need to use an ink pad at all. Truth be told, Markers are much better of a friend to me than ink pads 🙂
