3 Color Bernat Blanket Yarn Baby Blanket
This easy 3 color Bernat blanket yarn baby blanket pattern uses a one row repeat pattern that is relaxing and makes a cuddly soft baby blanket. When it gets tough to choose just one color, I like using a color blocking method. With 3 colors of yarn, you create a clean, modern look without needing a complex border.
Materials and Hook Size
- Yarn: 3 skeins of Bernat Blanket Yarn (#6 Super Bulky weight). You will need 1 skein in each of your 3 chosen colors. (Each skein is 300g/10.5oz and 220 yards, meaning you will need approx. 660 total yards for this blanket).
- Hook: You can use the recommended L 11 hook or size up like I did to a P 12mm crochet hook. This creates a slightly airer fabric.
- Notions: Scissors and a large-eye tapestry needle (essential for weaving in super bulky yarn ends)
- Finished Size: The blanket measures approximately 30 by 36 inches when finished.

Bernat Blanket Yarn Baby Blanket Tutorial:
To make this 3 color Bernat blanket yarn baby blanket pattern, you will need to know how to make a slip knot, how to chain, how to make the single crochet stitch and how to double crochet. We will be working in the crochet blanket stitch which I explain below.
Start with a chain of 54. Chain loose to avoid creating a tight puckered blanket edge.

Working in blanket stitch, create clusters of sc,2dc.

Change colors every 15 rows. I’ve recently learnt how to join yarn with a magic knot that creates clean invisible transitions. This is a must know crochet technique that you will use over and over again!

The second pink color is such a subtle change from the white. I love the pastel beauty of these two colors together. Crochet 15 rows of the soft pink. If you are like me and like pen and paper, here is a crochet printable to keep track of your rows.

I added a third color, which is again a soft pink gradient, just a shade or two darker. The three colors together add so much interest to this 3 color Bernat blanket yarn baby blanket pattern. Simple stitches always shine in a beautiful color palette.

The finished blanket measures approximately 30 by 36 inches in size and is a great stroller size. I did not add any border, instead leaving the blanket with clean modern color blocks.

First off, thank you for this gorgeous pattern. It is perfect proof that you don’t need complicated patterns to create something stunning.
In the PDF, you write that there’s an accompanying video for that, but I can’t find anything here on the blog. Sure, the pattern is easy enough that you might not need a video, but it might be helpful for real beginners.
