MODERN CHRISTMAS CARDS IDEAS:
Paint a wreath: Create a Holiday Joy Wreath in bright colors!
Paint checks: Learn How to Paint Plaid patterns on your cards!
Create a tree: Make your own shimmery tree and decorate it with gems!
Try watercoloring: Get artsy and create your own Watercolor Christmas Cards!
Make your tree pink! These Holiday trees need not be pink. I chose to paint the trees in different colors of the rainbow, but you can make them all green if that is your preference. Watch the video tutorial here
TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS CARDS IDEAS:
Use a big paper punch: These cards are quick and easy to put together, and you can see the 4 easy steps to make these on Fiskars blog here. A great card design to easily produce in bulk.
Add some hand embroidery! For this card, I printed out my sentiment and then embroidered around it with a few different colored embroidery flosses. Now this card took me 4 to 5 days to make. I was in no hurry, and I liked the slow pace of sewing. It was something for me to do while watching tv…
Add some tiny gems! Create a bold look with just a few gems and contrasting red and green papers.
Add a big bow! The patterned papers are from DCWV and My Mind’s eye. I particularly love the glitter on the paper, but the large bow is the eye-catching finishing touch this card needed!
Add some glossiness! For the Santa here, I stamped the image onto white cardstock and colored it with colored pencils. I then added a layer of glossy accents all over the image. After that dried, I added another layer of glossy accents over only the shoes and clothes…
Make a Flower Die Cut card: This holiday themed paper flower card is super dimensional and oh so pretty!
Use rub ons! Here I added snowflake rub on easily onto the stocking shapes! For the stockings itself, I simply hand cut the shape, added a white piece of cardstock on top and glued it onto the card with a little ribbon sticking out on top
CUTE CHRISTMAS CARDS IDEAS:
Add a bold Ho Ho Ho in a modern color: I love the type and aqua color of the title here! The cute Santa from Lori Whitlock’s Christmas Day Collection doesn’t hurt
Add cute winter animals: This one uses the elements from another Lori Whitlock collection called Christmas Eve. Aren’t these penguins simply adorable?
Adhere pretty holiday tags: This is a super quick idea that will make a pretty and interesting card front in a few minutes!
EASY CHRISTMAS CARD IDEAS
Use your paper scraps: To make this card, use 4 different holiday punches on 4 different patterned papers. Trim around the negative punched area to make a rectangle measuring 1.5 inches wide and 1.75 inches tall. You can ink the edges of these blocks or distress them if you wish. Adhere these blocks onto one 4 by 4-inch square and affix a sentiment using some foam squares as seen in the photo above.
Use paper punches! To make this card, punch out 11 circles using a medium round squeeze punch. Adhere them on a diagonal onto a 4-inch square. Add a sentiment with a foam square. Trim off the circles that go beyond the square. Ink or distress the edges of the card if desired.
Use a basic floral stamp and make it holiday themed! To make this card, place a 4 inch square of cardstock on a larger piece of cardstock and stamp an image onto it. Try using non-seasonal stamps, but color the image using holiday colors! Use color pencils, copics, or watercolors, whatever you have on hand. This is something even kids would love to do, it does not have to be perfect. To highlight the flowers, add tiny dots of glossy accent over the flowers. Finally, adhere a sentiment with foam squares.
CREATIVE CHRISTMAS CARD IDEAS:
Add texture: To add dimension to the background of the card, I used some embossing paste and a stencil. The white embossing paste on white cardstock gives a nice tone on tone texture.
