In this Lord Ganesha mixed media canvas art tutorial, I will walk you through all the steps of creating a unique painting from start to finish. This canvas looks grand as a wall art piece.
For me, Ganesha, the elephant headed god depicts color, abundance and prosperity. Since my teenage years I find myself drawing and sketching images of him. ganesha mixed media canvas art tutorial
This is a Mixed media canvas- you can use paper, paste, paint, gelato and marker/pen work. You can add as many layers of details and for me that is part of the fun!
I first cut out different patterned papers and adhered them onto the canvas to form the shape of a Ganesha- large ears, round stomach, hands and an elephant face. If you need more ideas for the shape, check out this how to draw Ganesha step by step in a sketchbook tutorial for inspiration.
For the jewelry, I added dimension using this wood filler paste. The paste tube comes with a nozzle and easy to apply.
I then started bringing in color with paint and adding brush strokes to blend areas. I then tied everything together by drawing lots of details with some Faber Castell Big Brush Markers in various different colors.
I added small designs like circles around the jewelry and even added patterns in the background areas. I have elaborated how to use faber castell gelatos easily to layer color on top of paper or paint and have used that technique here too.
And here is a look at the finished piece of wall art. This Ganesha mixed media canvas art tutorial came with layers upon layers of paper, paste, paint, gelato and marker/pen details.
This is not my first Ganesha painting ideas on canvas and I promise it won’t be my last!
