What stitch is the Quickest?
This crochet quick scarf gets its speed from the double treble stitch(DTR).
This creates a tall stitch that builds height quickly and gives the scarf that airy, elegant drape.
Crochet Quick Scarf Tutorial:
If you are a new crocheter, you will need to know how to make a slip knot, and how to start your crochet chain. The star of this scarf is the DTR stitch, here is a step by step tutorial of how to double treble crochet(DTR)
We start with a chain 16+4
Row 1: Then DTR into the 5th chain from hook. Continue DTR across (16 stitches total).
Row 2 and beyond: Turn, chain 4, Skip first stitch, Work DTR across. Place last stitch into the turning chain
Continue making DTRs into each chain, and you should have 16 tall stitches.
Row 2 is a our one row repeat. Repeat it until your scarf reaches your desired length (about 70–75 rows for a standard scarf). If this is your first scarf, check out my tips on how to crochet a scarf for beginners
Make sure that you are making a DTR into the turning chain of the row beneath. Don’t skip that stitch! You should be maintaining the16 stitches.
Change color if desired at 1/3 the length. I worked each color for about 25 rows each for a total of 75 rows
To elevate your crochet quick scarf, try soft, cohesive palettes like- Blush + cream + taupe, Sage + ivory + gray, or Dusty blue + white + sand
Tips for the Best Results
- Keep your tension loose and relaxed
- Always work into the turning chain at the end
- Light blocking helps the stitches open beautifully
This crochet quick scarf is the perfect mix of simple, fast, and elegant.
NOTE: If you find the DTR challenging, switch to treble crochet stitch with a turning chain of 3
Once you get into the rhythm, it becomes a peaceful, almost meditative project—one you’ll want to make again and again. Whether for yourself or as a thoughtful handmade gift, it’s a timeless piece that never goes out of style.
I love how it turned out and that it was such an easily portable project. I took it with me to kids’ swim lessons, car drives, and while watching TV and had it completed in under a week. The colors of this scarf also make me super happy!! I love the three different colors that work seamlessly together.
