Have you seen the new donut shaped O go yarn? This is such a unique way of packaging, different than our normal skeins and balls. Let’s unbox and see.

For weeks now, everywhere I looked on the internet I kept seeing these O’go Yarn skeins. The promise of these skeins is that the yarn is tangle free and easy to start. They come in a revolutionary donut shaped skein and I just had to try them out myself!

how do you use o’go yarn?

Flip the skein, remove packaging and locate the plastic wire fastener at the bottom. Carefully separate the yarn skein ends and snip the plastic wire. The yarn is ready to use!

What I love about it:
  • I like that each yarn skein comes with 3 colors. Great way to create super colorful blankets without having to buy many skeins.
  • You can easy manipulate which color you want to use and unlike other variegated yarns you can easily see how much of each color you have remaining.
  • The Donut shape is super easy to open and use.
  • The yarn skeins were truly tangle free and great to use!
  • I like how all the colorways of the O’go yarn have a nice continuity. You can easily make my blanket pattern using 5 different colorways of O’go yarn Bernat Blanket skeins to create something stunning!
What I didn’t like too much:
  • The yarn colors are joined visibly with a knot in each skein. I’m just not a fan of having knots in my yarn skeins.
  • Each O’go Yarn donut is basically 3 small skeins of yarn joined together. I wish it were one skein of yarn dyed into 3 colors. This would also create a neat in between colors. Would work better for these kind of crochet blanket patterns.
  • Since the colors included in each colorway are so bold, you will need to manually color pool the colors. For this blanket, I would cut the yarn and join the new yarn color when I felt that there wasn’t enough yarn for the next round.

I recently made my Crochet Skinny Scarf Pattern using this Red Heart O go yarn and loved how the color blocks turned out!
