- A needle and embroidery floss
New to die cutting? Check out my intro “What is die cutting?” and how to die cut felt
Felt Pumpkin Craft Easy Tutorial:
Step 1: Using the die set, cut out six wedges per pumpkin.
Step 2: I chose yellow for the larger pumpkin and made a smaller pumpkin with two shades of browns.
Step 3: You’ll also need a die cut leaf per pumpkin and a small rectangle to roll up into a stalk.
Step 4: Start by sewing two of the pieces together with a simple running stitch along the edge. I chose to sew on the outside to add an extra handmade element.
Step 5: Continue sewing till you have six wedges sewn into one form.
Step 6: Fill the pumpkin with either Polyfil or old scraps of fabric. I like to overstuff it!
Step 7: Before sewing it shut, be sure to add in the stalk and the leaf!
All done!
And that’s it, this Felt Pumpkin Craft is easy and very comforting to make. I love the feel of felt and sewing it together is relaxing
Felt Pumpkin Craft Easy Tips and Tricks:
- This is a felt pumpkin craft tutorial, but of course, you can easily swap felt out for fabric you might already own. The fabric pumpkin will look similar.
- If you need to skip the die cutting, simply cut 6 skinny rectangles of felt, sew them together and then run your needle along the top edges to singe it close. Repeat the same on the bottom to create your pumpkin shape.
- I chose to have my seams exposed but you could totally make this the right way with the seams inwards too.
- Make these Felt Pumpkins in bulk quickly by pulling out your sewing machine instead!
- For a fresh potpourri smell, swap the rolled felt stalk with some cinnamon bark. You can hot glue the cinnamon bark into place and your decor will smell wonderful!
